Dr. Sean Vogt is the newly hired director of choral conducting at the Piteå Musikhögskolan (Sweden) — Luleå Tekniska Universitet. He will primarily direct the choirs and the undergraduate and graduate choral degrees, with some additional teaching for the sacred music division in organ and liturgy/service playing. Sean holds a DMA and MM in choral conducting from Michigan State University and the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, respectively.Sean has significant experience in academia and sacred music. In addition to being tenured at all university appointments, he also served as a department chair for five years. As a church musician, significant posts have included University Worship Organist/Choirmaster at Southern Methodist University (Dallas, Texas), Choirmaster and Organist for the Cathedral of Saint Paul (Archdiocesan Cathedral for Saint Paul & Minneapolis, Minnesota), and Director of Music at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church (Atlanta, Georgia).
He has held leadership positions in the American Choral Directors Association (Iowa, Minnesota, and Georgia), and the American Guild of Organists on various chapter committees, including Dean of the Atlanta AGO. He has presented on choral topics, and music technology, and/or performed (collaborative and solo) at multiple national conferences: NCCO, ACDA, AGO, and OHS.
